The End Of The Week

I wanted to start by saying congrats to Carlos and Isaac on their one year wedding anniversary!  Here is to many more!

This got me thinking about those who showed their hatred for Gays and Lesbians by voting down their ability to get married.  They claimed that allowing homosexuals to marry would ruin the sanctity of marriage…  If they were really concerned about marriage they would turn their attention to heterosexuals!  It is not the gays who are ruining marriage, it’s us straight people.  50% of our marriages end in divorce, we are the ones who no longer hold the institution sacred.  Look at the religious hypocrites like Mel Gibson and Ted Haggard, our elected officials who claim to be about “family values”, but are cheating on their wives with lobbyists like Michael Duvall (and many others!) and straight celebrities who openly mock marriage through their very public indiscretions like David Letterman…. Not to say these are the only example, just the most recent.  I can’t think of one married gay couple who has done anything to tarnish the image of marriage even a tenth as much as these legally married, seemingly perfect examples of straight, family oriented America.

It would make more sense to me if these people were boycotting people like me from getting married again.  I was married for only 5 years, brought two kids into this world who now have to live in 2 separate worlds and ultimately disgraced the institution by walking away from it (Not my choice, but I was still involved).  And yet, no organization or group would think twice of me getting married again (Heck, my Ex was engaged before we were divorced)… In fact I can’t think of a one of those Prop 8 haters who would find a problem with it.

If there is one thing I have learned, marriage is not about the sex of the person you sleep with at night…  It’s about Love, Caring, Hard Work, Sacrifice, Understanding, Loyalty and bunch of other stuff that gay people can do just as well as straight people…  As I said before, Congrats Carlos and Isaac!

OK, that’s enough of that, it is Friday after all!  I get plenty of time to think about stuff while sitting on the 405 and I needed to vent.

Cool thing going on this weekend in my old ‘hood.  The Bow-Wows and Meows Pet Fair is this Sunday in Newhall… This is a fun one for all you animal lovers out in the 661, I think the kids and I might check it out.

Bing and I tried to be a couple wild and crazy guys and hot tub during the day… It was still too cold, although Bing tried walking around and feeling the water at different spots to see if any part of it was hot! (much to his dismay, it was all the same temp.)

Sorry kids, park is closed – due to manatee poop!  Guess who’s in Playboy now?  Obama does the noble thing with the Nobel Prize. The Hoff hassles his docs.  Don’t enslave your nanny!  Well this guys not that niceHummer now to be painted with lead paint.  have a baby, cop a feel.

Have a great weekend!  Rock On, Jack

I also believe gay marriage should be legalized everywhere. I support the cause. I may not be gay but I do have gay family members and gay friends. They should have the same rights we do.

Jack, I know you were talking about marriages that last a long time and how few of them there are. My hubby and I have been married for 23 years. We are still happy and still in love. I can’t imagine spending my life with anyone else but my husband. There’s still hope out there!

Remember those Prop h8 commercials that had the parent all disgusted by their daughter hearing about gay marriage at school–it was more disgusting that they were teaching their child that if you’re different you shouldn’t have any rights. Shouldn’t a modern society get over this theme that runs throughout history? What about the children of gay people or gay children? Do they want segregated schools because the religious wrong children might learn that there are people that live differently than them? It’s RIDICULOUS! It’s like going backwards in time. The 2 children from a lesbian couple I have taken care of, are very well adjusted and as far as I know have not been discriminated against or teased at their schools. It shouldn’t be and issue to teach children to accept differences and to be compassionate. I know you know all of this Jack. It just still makes me angry that prop h8 passed! I needed to vent!

There is currently a proposed initiative which would outlaw divorce. I can’t help but think that the mastermind was a gay rabblerouser who is trying to make a point by forcing those who supported Prop 8 to face the true threat to the sanctity of marriage. Logic often escapes most who wish to legislate morality on their own narrow-minded terms.

I’m glad that you aren’t dropping this issue, it needs to continue being present on people’s minds. one day i have no doubt, this will be overturned. everyone deserves to ahave the same human rights!

Well said Jack. I’ve argued with some until I was blue in the face. You wouldn’t believe some of the arguments I’ve heard.
