11 of 38 Left

It has been so cool to see the world mobilize so quickly to help the people of Haiti. I posted the info for the Red Cross yesterday, beware of scams and donation cons, tragedy always shows you the best and worst in people.

I have 11 days left of being 38… And I’ll tell you the last year hasn’t been that great, OK, the last two haven’t been good, but I was just recapping the last one.  I am determined to have things better before I’m 40…  Because if things are still crappy for me this time next year I’m going to lose it, a guy can only take so much.  Luckily, the bar hasn’t been set too high… If I can support myself I’m ahead!

Sometimes crazy people will surprise you by actually making some sense…  And I’m not talking about people like Glenn Beck, I mean real homeless, in the streets crazy people.  I went to the market this morning and there was a crazy woman in the parking lot just ranting, she made some great points on foreign affairs and the war… But she kind of lost me when she said I was the devil, I’m no saint mind you, but the devil?

That woman started me thinking about some of the people I met in the mental hospital (And I have written before about some of them).  It was heart breaking to see the people who knew they were “crazy”… there was one gentleman, we’ll call him Stan, who was suffering from extreme bi-polar disorder.  As the meds came and went, he could be quite coherent, and I had some time to speak to him.  I found out a lot about his life… And how his lifelong mental problems had pretty much destroyed it.  When he was coming off the meds he would hardly recognize me, having not only mental lapses, but physical ticks and tremors,  but when they were in full effect he was a very kind, charming person.  He had told me about his failed marriage, the family he had lost contact with, the jobs that came during periods of control and were lost shortly there after when his disease would again take control.  I felt so sad for him… And it made me so upset with people that I know (You know who I’m talking about) who use bi-polar disorder as an excuse to justify the fact that in truth they just are self absorbed , bad people.  Meeting Stan, and the others who were there with me, has had a huge impact on my life…  I now better understand who is truly crazy and who is suffering from a disease.

Ready for blast off! No… it’s says “Choking ON his chicken.”  They repossessed my kid!  At least they always put their money where their mouth is.  Speaking of choking.  O.C. fairgrounds might go for 55 million!?!? Ever wondered what you could get for a 2 Y.O.  Cheaters guilt pays off for Haiti.  2012 fashion.

Rock On, Jack

Jack, I read this blog and wanted to tell you that over the past 1-1/2 years, my youngest daughter (23 years old) was hospitalized for her bi-polar disorder and on top of that was in an intensive outpatient program 3 times. She has been a “cutter” since she was about 12/13 years old. I thank God that she has not cut herself for a few months now., as it was quite drastic.

She would come home and tell me about some of the patients there, and how crazy they were. Some were bi-polar, and some others where schzophrenic, people who had addictions to drugs and alcohol, and others with multiple personalities.

My goal for this year is to keep her out of the hospital.

As for you, I will keep you in my prayers to help you keep strong. I know it’s not easy, as I know what my daughter goes through. Let’s pray for a better 2010.

God Bless you and your adorable children!

    Debbie
