Sure it’s almost the end of August…

Friday, August 20th, 2010

But summer is finally here!  And it came just in time for my two weeks with the kids!

We’ve been having a great time, we’ve hung out with Grandma, saw Toy Story 3 at The El Capitan (Which I highly recommend, it runs through August 29th … the fun zone afterward is worth the price of admission alone), did some bike riding and played with toys!  Last night the kids and I got to play with toy cars for a while… Something we all enjoy!

The podcast is on vacation next week… Not to worry, we will return Monday the 30th for our new fall season.

Hey single people… According to CNN, we’re not alone, in fact there is a bunch of us.  But bad news ladies, there are 100 of you for every 88 of us.

It kind of sucks, I could be done for the day at work right now (I’m writing this at &:30am Friday morning), but I’m watching KTLA and the 5 has a bunch of accidents so I’m waiting it out… That’s a negative to Santa Clarita, anything happens on the 5 and you’re trapped here!

never trust anyone nicknamed “Mr. Hugs!”   His Mommy stood in.  Good luck with your new boyfriend. What could there be they haven’t already told?  I think a road trip is in order.   Finally, what strippers think of the mosque!  He needs a wallet!

Have a great weekend!

The Weekend Is Upon Us…

And it’s supposed to be a hot one!

You always see me mentioning Groupon on here, well I saw an article today on the site that was very interesting.  They are America’s fastest growing company,  set to reach a billion dollars in sales faster than any other company ever has and were created by a 29 year old .  It was just good to see an American company doing well and a company I personally believe in succeeding in these horrible economic times.   Not only do they offer great deals, but I had instance to deal with their customer service department and they went above and beyond.

There is a very sad ending to the Matrice Richardson mystery.  She was the young woman taken into custody by the Sheriff’s department after skipping on a bill at Geoffrey’s in Malibu, who was then released and never heard from again. There was a period of time last week they thought she may be hiding out in Vegas.  well,  they found remains last week in Malibu Creek State Park that have been Identified as hers.  If you saw the press conference yesterday I’d be interested to see what you thought, I think they handled the announcement (and most other aspect of the case) very badly… Her Father found out via the press conference announcement.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

I had something happen yesterday that almost never happens to me… I made a bad batch of cookies!  I burned about half the batch by getting distracted and leaving them in the oven for too long and then (I don’t really go by a set recipe… As Sarah Palin would say “I go Rogue” with my cookies) the other half were just “off” for lack of a better word.  I’m going to give it another shot tonight!

I was at the CRN yesterday… Jack Roberts is looking much better!  It was good to see him looking healthier and in better spirits.

Kids return on Sunday!

If you haven’t heard the audio is at the bottom of this link, Dr. Laura went on a racist rant of sorts and was really insensitive to her caller… I hope she gets in trouble for this.

Talk about aged.  Stench needs a Nakation!  Speaking of travel, Check out what kids are using their babysitting money for.    Enjoy these new scratch and sniff bills.   The old pay your tax bill in pennies gag. Killer smoothies… and not in the good way!  Get naked for Obama!

Have a great weekend!  Rock on, Jack

Last “adult” weekend for a while…

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

And I’m not upset about it!  I can’t wait for the kids to get back… And they’ll be with my Mom and me for 2 weeks!  We have lots of fun stuff planned, Universal Studios, Classic Car Show in Burbank, Dodgers Game, tide pools with Angela Channel and whatever else we can think up.

Lucy is in for a surprise, She thought she was getting an iCarly lunchbox this year…  But check out this Groupon, She’s getting a “My Dad Rules” lunchbox with my face on it!!!!  Speaking of that, I need to get her the backpack she wants (iCarly as well), Target is already starting to sell out of back to school stuff.

I didn’t do much of anything yesterday, nice long walk, short nap, some afternoon work (We recorded Carly Fiorina for today’s show yesterday, so it was a little busier than normal… If you’re interested in hearing her click here).   I must admit, I wasn’t really that into politics or finance, but I have  learned a lot from Ron and am enjoying it greatly… It’s an interesting time both politically and economically to be entrenched in this world.

I did a little project yesterday, I have a picture frame that I hated the color of the wood… So I sanded it and re-stained it.  I’ll see how it turns out after it dries… initial assessment is that it’s too dark, but we’ll see.

Duck cops a feel.  This isn’t good news.  No toad licking in the kitchen please.  Attack of the huge ice chunk! Stench and I may be married by the end of the day.  No one said molesters were smart.  Gross.

Halfway through my “adult week”

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

The kids have been gone since Saturday, It’s always a strange feeling when they are out of town… There is a certain comfort, even if they’re not at my house, knowing they are just a few congested freeways away.  Adding to the weirdness is knowing that they are at my Ex-Wife’s wedding.

I was thinking about it the other day, Stretch always is filled with so much anger and sometimes at things I just cannot grasp being that upset about.  I can’t find that anger towards much of anything… Including my Ex.  It is more disappointment, in both of us.  I am disappointed in her for all the obvious reasons and in myself for trusting her, believing all she said during our relationship, which now all has been proven false.

In the limited exposure I have to her (during exchanges, at school events) she acts as if nothing is wrong, as nothing has happened, like we’re friends…  We are not friends.  I have great friends, who I have known much longer than she, that have never let me down, toyed with my emotions or tried with all their power to destruct my life on all levels… Those are my friends.

I guess you just think of your kids as yours, as your realities being in sync, but that is not true anymore… My kids and I live in different worlds.  They, in one with me and one with their mother… Different locations, experiences, friends, family, et cetera.  And I, in one with them and then in another when they are not with me… When you become a parent it becomes your whole world, all encompassing, everything you do is focused and revolved around your children, especially when they are babies.  I embraced that, my kids were my total focus… Now I am unfocused on them most of the week and have to try and rebuild a pseudo-pre-kids life, like I had before marriage and kids.

It’s odd because it is what so many people with spouses and kids say they want back, that freedom and personal time lost by family life… Trust me, it’s not all as it’s cracked up to be and it’s very different from what you remember.  I am not 25 anymore, living as if I am as very little appeal…  I want my boring life back, I was good at that, I enjoyed it.

Although I say I want my family life back, and it’s true, but as I have earlier written, I am not going to get into a relationship just to be in one… I see that too often, I saw it with my my Dad.

So for now, I will live in both my worlds, separately together.

Alina’s Birthday Party Videos

Here’s what the flipvid and I caught at Alina’s Birthday Party Saturday night at The Four Season’s in Beverly Hills.

It’s Innate …

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

I’ve been divorced 2 1/2 years which means Lucy was 4 when this all started.  Now remember my Ex moved her fiance in right away, so the kids have been subject to that relationship since the beginning of their parents divorce… And yet Lucy still has this desire for my Ex and I to be together.  Now I don’t mean married again (Although she has never addressed it either way), but I mean during exchanges she tries to get us to hang out and spend time together.

I tried to think back to when my parents divorced (Again, under vastly different circumstances and in a much more amicable fashion) and I can’t remember wanting my parents to spend time together… But I’m sure that’s just because I’m old and it has escaped my aging brain.

I think at least for Lucy, there is some comfort having the two of us in the same room… Even if she knows her Dad doesn’t want too.  There is still some place in the back of her little mind that remembers when we were all together and things were not as strange as they are now…  It is kind of sad to witness.

Anyway, that was just on my mind.  Kids, Grandma and I went to Mc Donald’s for lunch yesterday… where Bing proceeded to spill a container of chocolate milk on me.  It could have been anything else, but why milk?  I hate milk, it grosses me out… and it was hot yesterday which made it even more disgusting.  Do you have those weird things that gross you out that other people just don’t get?  I have a few… Milk, Mayo, Finger Snapping (I know, weird… But I hate that “bone on bone” feeling! Insert your own joke here).

It looks like I have a date Saturday night… And he’s big, hairy and sexy!  Stench and I are going to Alina’s birthday party.  Should be fun, I haven’t been out in a long time, and it’s been even longer since I’ve been out with Stench!

It is Shark Week.  Bundchen wants boob law!  Toe type tapps troopers.    parts is parts.  The wrong way to fill your tank.  This is sad. I’m going home and re-watching.  Do you have gray pride?

Good (Early) Morning L.A.

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

I’m excited, the show I produce, The Insana Quotient, launched in Los Angeles this morning on KGIL 1260am …  If you are up between 4 and 6am check it out.  I’m not going to lie, it’s vastly different than Stench and my show, but if you’re interested in finance and politics it’s very interesting… And Ron truly is a great guy.

The kids and I had a fun weekend.  We did some cycling with Angela Channel, Lucy learned to start by herself (Up to this point I had to give her a push to start)…  Bing rode in the trailer which he now dislikes because he wants to ride his “Big Boy Bike.”  On saturday night we went to The Valley Cultural Centers movies on the green and watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (A Bing Fave) with Angela and Ethan, Mike in GH and Kids, and small other friends… It’s really a good time, the kids loved watching the movie outside and having a picnic.  I highly recommend it and Up is screening in a few weeks!  Yesterday we tried to fly our kites, but there just wasn’t enough wind.

I can’t believe it’s already August, kids start going back to school locally in a few weeks… This summer just kind of breezed past.  Lucy and Bing have already starting discussing Halloween costume options… Lucy is leaning towards whale and Bing wants to reprise “Bowling Girl.”  I want to try and make a “Baby” costume for myself this year fashioned after the monkey blanket of that name Bing carries around everywhere.

Kids leave the end of this week for their Mother’s wedding, luckily I miss read an earlier email and they’ll only be gone a week and then I get them for two weeks (We’ll my Mom and I get them, since she’ll be helping while I’m at work).

Stench and I will be taking a vacation from podcasting the end of August, so you will be dorkless for a week!

Lindsay is free!  I think we all already know this.  Not at my work.   And I thought I was hard-up.  This is gonna piss some people off. I’m going on a diet right now!  But she’s such a good girl?  Everything old is new again.  Congrats Miss Chubby!
