Well I do all the time… But this morning I had an extra stupid experience! Every morning I bring something to eat in the car on my way to work, it’s just a time saver to enjoy breakfast on the commute. So this morning I had a banana (or baaaaanaaaaaaaanaaaaaa as my kids say, you have to see the “mini movies” on the Despicable Me DVD to understand). As is my morning ritual I hoped in the car just before 1:45am (I like to catch the traffic report before I drive off to see if my freeways are closed, between the 170 and the 5 there is construction drama every night/morning) and started the engine. I hooked my seat belt and then decided to start to peel my banana before I drove off, it’s not illegal, but it is difficult to peel and drive! As I grabbed the top of the fruit to start the stem pulled off, now I fancy myself pretty green, I never litter, but I don’t consider a banana stem littering, so I opened the window to toss it out before I pulled out of the driveway. As the window started to drop, i reached across to drop it out of the opening… And as I did I actually hit the window button again causing it to reverse, getting two of my fingers stuck between the door frame and the window. The first thing that went through my mind was “Wow this hurts… This shouldn’t hurt, it’s just the car window, and I can’t pull my fingers out?” then I thought, ” Wow, this is stupid, I’m so glad no one is here to see!” Then, “Hey, maybe I should roll the window down!” popped into my mind! But have you ever had an “emergency” (I use the word lightly in this situation) happen in an everyday situation and you can’t figure out what to do for a moment? I stared in the dark at the window controls for a second trying to figure out which one to press (and wondering what will happen if I accidentally press up)… I finally got the window down and my finger out. It hurt the whole way to work and is now black and blue. And I thought, Wow, this is way too stupid not to share on the world wide web.
Rock on, Jack
