As we wrap up the summer I was thinking about the highlights of my summer… And by far our trip to Vegas stood out. I took a lot of photos (like 3000… no, really 3000). I made a ShutterFly book (I could have made a dozen of books with all the photos I have!) and still have a ton of photos that are living on an SD Card unseen… So I thought I’d share some here. My favorite photos from the trip were the ones we shot with my sisters borrowed underwater camera. Normally water equals photographic holes in my life, I don’t have one of those cool waterproof Samsung phones, nor a waterproof camera, so usually there is no record of our time in the water. ( I highly recommend one if you spend a lot of time at the pool/beach/amusement park… And it doesn’t have to be a super expensive one, in fact one you won’t be too distraught if it gets destroyed or lost is probably best!) So here a splash of our favorite pics from the underwater camera.
ok, enough of my vacation photos ( I promise this is the last blog where I will bombard you with them!) I realized that L.A. is different from other cities in that nothing old stays around long… We love to level things and build new shiny versions! This year alone we lost Dimples (it was a karaoke bar in Burbank), Mo’s (a restaurant in Toluca Lake) and the House Of Blues West Hollywood… It’s made me appreciate the places that are still around and I thought I would share my favorites with you. (Mind you these are in Burbank… That is where I grew up so it is where my heart is, but if you find yourself in the area check these out.) The Tallyrand is the best spot in L.A. for an open-faced turkey sandwich… And Huell Howser agrees with me (R.I.P. Huell).
And if your looking for good food at anytime of the day or night Coral Cafe is 24 hours and always good! Like Chili? Chili John’s is a Burbank institution… In fact it made the list of one of L.A.’s oldest surviving restaurants. That’s it for now, but I’m sure I’ll think of more!
I posted the first video from my dash-cam… I haven’t captured anything super interesting yet, but I wanted to test it out. So here’s my test video:
Hopefully I’ll get something more interesting soon!
Here’s the music I’m digging currently:
Boxed In – “Mystery”
Of Monster And Men – “Crystals”
Gavin James – “For You”
Have a great week! Rock On, Jack
