Betta bites the big one!

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

We had another death in the family… This time Lucy’s betta, “Shark Heart” died.  I found him lying lifeless at the bottom of his bowl yesterday.  You would think I would be pretty anti-betta after the two recent deaths, but I actually like them… So far they have had the respect to not die while the kids are over!  This one might be a little harder to pull off, but I’m going to go today and try and find a look alike.  I may have to bite the bullet and get a really aquarium if these things keep croaking.

I haven’t done much exciting this week, yesterday it was laundry… No in-unit washer-dryer like at the old place, but we have pay machines in the building.  Got a stash of quarters and went wild.  Oh ya, and I got a walk in, cruised magnolia listening to my ipod… it was very nice.

Bing is such a funny little guy… this weekend he woke up first, I heard him get up.  So he walks into my room and looks at me, then walks out.  I figure he’s going to go get babies (yes, we have multiple Babies now… Not only “regular baby” and “new Baby”, but “stuffed animal baby” and “diamond baby“.)  When he didn’t come back I went to look for him… He was lying on the floor of his room holding babies.  I asked him what he was doing and he said I was sleeping and he didn’t want to wake me… So he now knows he can wake me whenever he wants!

Stench dropped a “pod blind item” on us yesterday and I’m still trying to figure out who he was referencing!?!?  He said someone in pod world had to go to the doctor to have an injury treated that was recieved during “funky” sex!?!?

If I figure it out I’ll let you know.

Life Is A Party… At Least the Life Of A Parent Is!

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

This weekend was all about Birthday parties. It’s the thing no one warns you about when you have kids… At some point (Usually when they get into school), many of your weekends are going to be spent at kids parties. Saturday it was a bowling party. Both kids had a great time, and it was Bing’s first time back on the lanes since breaking his finger… He did great, suffered no injuries and even picked up a spare! Sunday was a party at Chuck E. Cheese… As good an idea as this seems, it almost never really is. The party itself was really nice, but the CEC was horrible… It was packed (As they always are on weekends), under staffed, unclean (As many of them are) and full of out of control kids! The process of CEC is exhausting… Let’s exclude the actual party part, first you get tokens, which you must wade through the broken games to find ones to wait in line at to actually play, you are rewarded with 3 to 6 tickets on the average, you do this until you run out of tokens (Which can take quite awhile), then you have to feed the tickets into a machine (That you will most likely have to wait a long time to actually get to use) that “eats” them, but it doesn’t always work smoothly and it “eats” up more time than tickets, when the tickets are finally counted you go to the counter where dozens of tired kids are trying to make choices (between a slew of crappy toys), anyone who has been around a kid knows that “choices” are not their strong point, now factor in a day at CEC eating junk food and running and climbing through the habit-trail for children, it can take for ever, now it’s your kids turn to pick crappy toys and you have to get a 3 year old to understand the concept of having 432 tickets to spend… And at this point, if no one is crying (including you!) you are a winner!!!

Speaking of winning tickets, Bing loves to play Skee-Ball… Only thing is he really can’t muster the strength to get the ball up the ramp. Here’s Bing, 1 Ball and 2 minutes of attempting to sink it:

It’s looking good for the Podcast!  It will most likely be a two level system, where you can keep the old subscription rate and get the daily show as normal or buy a premium (Although it’ll have a better name than that!) and get not only the normal show up an additional 15 minutes of content everyday.  We will also be putting “classic” Jack and Stretch Shows on itunes once a week to hopefully spawn subscribers to our new material.  Thank you all so much for sticking with us and coming up with so many great ideas!!!!

I have to admit, as much as I don’t like Guy, NBC’s new Minute to Win It is pretty good.  I kind of want to try out.  Celebrity Apprentice I’m not as into.  Lately I have been liking Modern Family, Scrubs, Cougartown and In The Middle…  The Parenthood is OK, I think I need to see a few more episodes before I make my final verdict.  And I can’t forget Lost, which has been excellent.

I’m not going to lie, I’m dreading tomorrow morning… The first day back to school/work after the Spring Forward always sucks!

See, she did beat him!  R.I.P. Peter Graves.  Avoid Mexico.   Love breaks up with Kennedy.  Mummy go home.  Runaway Prius may have been a fake.  What the buck?  Hero dog needs help.  By Beep.   This is disgusting.   This is one tough cabbie!

Taking a Break

Monday, December 21st, 2009

The kids and I are taking a mid-day relaxation break, we went for a walk by the mini cooper and smart car dealerships… Bing loved it, Lucy was only slightly interested, but I figure that makes up for all the visits we’ve made to the aquarium that Bing could have cared less about.

Yesterday we had a few holiday adventures.  We started at Angela Channels house where the kids decorated her tree (OK, Lucy did… Bing played outside), then it was off to the Christmas tree lot at Pierce College, where the kids met Santa (Well, again only Lucy, Bing did not want too and I refuse to force him), rode ponies, a little train and a merry-go-round.  After dinner we loaded up in a couple cars and did the woodland hills Christmas light tour (Just north of the 101 freeway at the Winnetka exit)…  Bing enjoyed yelling “Merry Christmas!” at people as we drove by… It really a fun thing to do, either driving or walking it. And we ended by watching the Charlie Brown Christmas dvd… It was a good day.

Bing actually went wee-wee on the potty last night…. It was a celebration on the level if we had just won the lottery!  He’s getting closer to no more “polka dot diapies!”

It’s weird to have no podcast or CRN show to do today…  We are really excited to make some improvements to the podcast in 20-10!!!  Can you believe we’re going on our 3rd year (in March) and have almost 700 shows in the archives?  Time flies when you’re playing radio.

It’s a tough time for Tiger…  Nothing like a party on your yacht to make you forget screwing over your family!  Enjoy the shortest day of the year…  Each one gets a little longer after tonight!  R.I.P. white rhino.   We had Rob on the pod.  Look who brought a gun to a snowball fight.  Interview with Santa.   You don’t want this guy to love you.  Maybe that’s how her brain got sucked out?  I sadi “This screwdriver really went to my head”, not “I want one in my head!

Good Weekend

Monday, December 14th, 2009

The kids and I enjoyed our weekend…  We didn’t let the rain keep us from having a good time.  Friday we decorated the tree and house… Lucy was very proud of her work, Bing was more interested in practicing his bowling.  Saturday, we had a bagel at Panera, baked cookies and watched holiday movies.  Sunday, we had a play date and a party to go to… See, we were pretty busy!

It’s our last week of Podcasts and CRN shows before the holiday break… I am interested to see what 2010 will hold for Stench and Me?  Friday we’re having our unofficial Christmas Party at the CRN Studios, if you’re in a festive mood come on down any time between 8-10pm!

Bing told me that he was going to buy me a BMW (He knows they are my favorite) and himself a Mustang… But then he realized he had no money, but it was the thought that counts!

It’s been fun watching all the holiday programming… although, The Flight Before Christmas was kind of lame… even the kids tired of it about half way through.

I’m sure you’re all tired of the Tiger story, So all I will say is that I’m glad that his sponsors have started to drop him… Although Nike is sticking by him, way to support cheating, disrespect marriage and show little concern for children Nike!

Got a kidney for Gris?  I think Heidi and Spencer should have been #1!  This should have happened sooner.  Bell ringers are not feeling gay.  Kids love the weed.  Quick get Stench a glass!  I can’t even imagine what these poor parents went through.   Some cool drinks.  This is too hard, I’ll just walk.

2 Days

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

OK, I know I’ve been harping on it, but Tuesday Stretch and I will be at The Bob’s Big Boy in Sun Valley… It’s Happy Hour and a live broadcast, should be a lot of fun! (11/17/2009 6-10p – 8274 Sunland Blvd, Sun Valley , California  92353)

Craig Shoemaker was really great Friday night, rumor has it he’ll be hosting his own show on CRN soon… I’ll post as soon as I know all the details.

The kids and I had a fun weekend.  Saturday we played a little tennis with Grandma and Wendy…  Well, most of us payed tennis, Bing mainly ran around the court collecting the balls which he would then lay claim too and not allow anyone to play with them.  Lucy really enjoyed playing, as soon as I get a job I’m going to get here into classes… I took lessons when I was a kid, I even remember my teachers name, Daisy Wong.  I hit a few serves, I was surprised I could hit it as well as I did. Sunday we met my Cousin and some of her friends at The La Brea Tar Pits… We didn’t know when we decided to go there, but there was a huge dog adoption fair going on which turned out to be a lot of fun.  Lucy got to do some hula-hooping , which she really enjoyed. ( Thanks to Hoop Kitty!)  Although it was kind of a bummer to see so many dogs that needed homes… Lucy really wanted to get one, and I would have if I could have.

I’ll post more at you soon!  Have a great week!

Oh ya, new photos posted on facebook.

IHOP and Swimming…

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

That is pretty much what our day was about.  Since Denny’s and Bob’s Big Boy have let us down IHOP has taken over as one of our faves. (and Pit Fire Pizza!)  I’m not sure what we’re going to do tomorrow, but It’s a sure bet we’ll swim at some point.  There was no sign of fire in Sunland tonight, so that was reassuring, hopefully they’ll have the Station Fire contained soon. I hope you something fun planned for the long weekend…  And hopefully it’s not too smokey to do fun stuff!

Should you get your kid a cell phone?  One tough kitty.  The secret ingredient.   Elephants hate rich guys!  Stretch’s dream girl.  See Ferris this weekend.  Free Patti Smith concert Thurs night.  Everybody sing “Don’t let your kids stay at the Y-M-C-A“.  R.I.P.  Akituusaq!
