No easy choices

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Wouldn’t it be great if every decision had just two choices, one good and one bad… Then life would be easy.  But it turns out life isn’t easy and doing the right thing doesn’t always mean it’s the best thing.  I bring this up because Lucy told me that she misses me and wants me to drop her off at school again over the weekend.  Due to my new work schedule I cannot drop her off at school and the kids don’t come over mid-week anymore.  I explained that I had to work (which is very, very true) and that I would see her on the weekend… But it doesn’t make it less painful to know that your kids miss you and they’re sad.  If I had any other option I would have done it so that we could afford to live and I could still see them more often, but that is not the way things have currently worked out…  I tried to make it clear, and I hope they understand, that I’d much rather be hanging out with them.

Speaking of hard decisions, I’m trying to figure out how I can still work at CRN… I really love everyone there and have so much fun, but there are so many hours in a day and I seem to use them up pretty quick.

I was let down by the Lost finale.  It didn’t explain many to the situations they created throughout the series.  It was a very emotional, visually appealing episode, but I just felt it was kind of a cop out… They took the easy way out and left so many things unfinished.  What did you think?

I move next weekend, so I’m on super packing mode this week.  I actually got a bunch done today.  It’s always kind of weird to look at your life all packed up and sitting in boxes.

The kids and I went to a chili cook-off at my sister’s work this weekend.  The company she works for, Line 6 , is pretty cool… through good and bad economic times they always throw events for their employees… So many other companies have cut these out, Line 6 has done sized them a bit, but they still do them, I think that says something about them.

The show I’m working on, The Insana Quotient is coming together… We’ve worked out most of the technical bugs, now we can focus on the show more.

Don’t forget, we’ll (Stench and I) be out at Farrell’s in Santa Clarita June 23rd from 7-9pm… Ice cream and Podcast, what more could you want?

Back To The AM

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

I just fund out today that they are moving my hours back to a 3am start time… And I’m actually pretty happy about it.  Those were the hours I originally signed up for, they actually afford me more time with the kids.  The show has been going well (I produce the  Insana Quotient hosted by Ron Insana), it’s business talk, so it’s a little different from what I have done in the past… But it’s always exciting to try something new.

The kids Mom called, I guess Lucy has been running a fever, but has no other symptoms… So I’m not too worried, Bing had something similar a week or so ago. It’s been so crazy around here I wasn’t able to schedule a time to see them midweek this week… Luckily, things are getting all ironed out and that shouldn’t be a problem from now on.

Lost has been doing a fairly good job of wrapping things up… I’m kind of bummed that it will all be over soon, there aren’t that many shows I currently look forward too.

The apartment search continues on, we’ve seen some good ones (My Sister and Mom have been helping)… But haven’t found the “one” yet (Although I’m willing to settle!  I just need to find something OK, in my price range).

We found out yesterday that we will be doing a live podcast at Farrell’s in Santa Clarita on Wednesday June 23rd at 7p!!!!! So if you can make it come hang out!!!  Speaking of hanging out, I will be doing just that at The Tallyrand Restaurant in Burbank this Friday (In 2 days) for some Happy Hour fun (I’ll be there anytime after 5:30p)…. Just decided to celebrate the launch of the new show and hang with my peeps!  All are welcome.

Winter Wonderland…

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

What the heck it was just spring a couple days ago, and today freezing… I guess I shouldn’t complain, it’ll be 100 before we know it and we’ll all want it to be cooler.

I found a couple shopping sites I like: Sample Sale sells designer clothes at great prices, the only catch is they’re only available for a limited time and MacBook Adapter sells refurbished and new MacBook accessories at discount prices, I just purchased a new power cord for $50 less than it was at Fry’s.  And as always, I recommend Threadless for cool t-shirts, Bing and I still love our “Squeeze Me” shirts!

I missed Lost last night… I’ll catch up online, even though I’m not too into the biblical twist it has taken.  Stench made me watch Dancing With The Stars last night… I stick by my theory that he is too large to watch shows like DWTS, there should be a height and weight limit for girly shows.

I’m continuing to enjoy being at the CRN, it reminds me of the old Star 98.7 days where I got to do a little bit of everything!  In fact yesterday I co-hosted the PM Show and am doing it again today!  It was fun to be back on Ustream and see all your comments.

Stench leaves for Las Vegas tonight, his new show is kind of wild should be an interesting couple days of shows.

Life is starting to return to normal for me, only took 2 years!  Well, as normal as my life ever is!

Thanks to Chris for this… A real Cleveland Steamer!!! I hope she never said “I’d give an arm to train a whale.” – Sorry, too soon?  Tony the Tiger rescued.  I will live forever!  What is wrong with people?  When hitting an Eagle in golf is bad.   Nude and crazy!

Life Is A Party… At Least the Life Of A Parent Is!

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

This weekend was all about Birthday parties. It’s the thing no one warns you about when you have kids… At some point (Usually when they get into school), many of your weekends are going to be spent at kids parties. Saturday it was a bowling party. Both kids had a great time, and it was Bing’s first time back on the lanes since breaking his finger… He did great, suffered no injuries and even picked up a spare! Sunday was a party at Chuck E. Cheese… As good an idea as this seems, it almost never really is. The party itself was really nice, but the CEC was horrible… It was packed (As they always are on weekends), under staffed, unclean (As many of them are) and full of out of control kids! The process of CEC is exhausting… Let’s exclude the actual party part, first you get tokens, which you must wade through the broken games to find ones to wait in line at to actually play, you are rewarded with 3 to 6 tickets on the average, you do this until you run out of tokens (Which can take quite awhile), then you have to feed the tickets into a machine (That you will most likely have to wait a long time to actually get to use) that “eats” them, but it doesn’t always work smoothly and it “eats” up more time than tickets, when the tickets are finally counted you go to the counter where dozens of tired kids are trying to make choices (between a slew of crappy toys), anyone who has been around a kid knows that “choices” are not their strong point, now factor in a day at CEC eating junk food and running and climbing through the habit-trail for children, it can take for ever, now it’s your kids turn to pick crappy toys and you have to get a 3 year old to understand the concept of having 432 tickets to spend… And at this point, if no one is crying (including you!) you are a winner!!!

Speaking of winning tickets, Bing loves to play Skee-Ball… Only thing is he really can’t muster the strength to get the ball up the ramp. Here’s Bing, 1 Ball and 2 minutes of attempting to sink it:

It’s looking good for the Podcast!  It will most likely be a two level system, where you can keep the old subscription rate and get the daily show as normal or buy a premium (Although it’ll have a better name than that!) and get not only the normal show up an additional 15 minutes of content everyday.  We will also be putting “classic” Jack and Stretch Shows on itunes once a week to hopefully spawn subscribers to our new material.  Thank you all so much for sticking with us and coming up with so many great ideas!!!!

I have to admit, as much as I don’t like Guy, NBC’s new Minute to Win It is pretty good.  I kind of want to try out.  Celebrity Apprentice I’m not as into.  Lately I have been liking Modern Family, Scrubs, Cougartown and In The Middle…  The Parenthood is OK, I think I need to see a few more episodes before I make my final verdict.  And I can’t forget Lost, which has been excellent.

I’m not going to lie, I’m dreading tomorrow morning… The first day back to school/work after the Spring Forward always sucks!

See, she did beat him!  R.I.P. Peter Graves.  Avoid Mexico.   Love breaks up with Kennedy.  Mummy go home.  Runaway Prius may have been a fake.  What the buck?  Hero dog needs help.  By Beep.   This is disgusting.   This is one tough cabbie!

Who’s There?

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

So, Last night I’m sitting on my couch, watching Lost, minding my own business, when the fire alarm goes off.  Now that happens all the time around here, usually in the middle of the night, so I didn’t think anything of it.  All of the sudden, there was a knock on my door, and before I could say “Who’s There?” our building security guard burst into my apartment!  Mental note: Lock door from now on!!!  It was cool though, he really thought I was on fire (Not the way Stench does!), I guess there was a lot of smoke in the hall right in front of my door, the fire department actually showed up shortly after.  Now there was kind of an embarrassing part of this all, but I talk about it on the pod, so I won’t repeat.

I realized last night as I watched TV that when the news teases a story they actually do themselves a disservice.  If they tease something that I’m actually interested in, I instantly look it up on my computer… And by the time the news comes on I already know the story and don’t have to watch.

Lost was really good last night, it’s so cool it’s back.

I’m excited to go to San Diego this weekend, I have to admit it’s a great city, if my life wasn’t in total turmoil when I was there I think I could have really enjoyed it…  And I have good memories of hanging with Tony and Kris there.

It’s rumored that “Snookie” from Jersey Shore has a sex tape… Does anyone want to see this!?!?!  Actually, that goes for anyone on the show…  I think I’ve seen the “Situation’s” stomach more than my own!

Still no update on the wine show Jen, Eric and I talked about doing on the CRN… I’ll have to start bugging them again, I really want to do it.

What happened to being mellow when you’re stoned?  You can cure Cancer.  AZ hates sexting!  Shock-A-Cone shocker. Gas rage.  I bet they didn’t bet on this happening.  Twinkie thief! She likes Tiger balls, but hates golf balls!  Mannequin busted!  This is sad.  He made a bad choice.  Something else you can write off your taxes.
