End of Summer

Thursday, September 20th, 2012

Well summer officially ends this weekend…  And I think overall it was a pretty good one.  Although short this year (L.A.U.S.D. changed their schedule so the kids really only had about  6 weeks or so) it feels like we had the chance to do a bunch of stuff (Even with the limitations of my messed up work schedule.)

To be honest, I’m not looking forward to the fall/winter… Not due to the weather, but the stress of my under-employment.  With the change in the leafs comes Halloween, school fundraisers, both my kids birthday’s and the holidays…  All things I cannot afford right now.  I have been searching high and low for a better paying job (and I don’t make much, so it is not like it should be that hard), so far I have had a few little nibbles, but no actual bites.  Since being fired from STAR 98.7 and getting divorced over 5 years ago I have continued to hope things would get better, but they have just kept plunging…  There have been little teases of hope, usually followed by greater disappointment.  It is truly exhausting (Not to b***h too much, I know many of you are in the same boat.)

To get off the subject of my crappy life… The Space Shuttle flies into L.A. tomorrow! I was kind of bummed it was delayed, it was supposed to land today and I have the day off work so I could have watched it cruise over the L.A. skyline… I’m hoping to be able to see it take off from Palmdale from my work!

If you haven’t yet, check out Lucy’s website, she is very proud of it… And I’m proud of her for her passion for sharks and her creative output.

Stench has a New Project where he does a daily morning show (click link to listen live)…  There is also a handfull of TV and internet shows associated with it, more details as they become available.

I still post news stories daily on Facebook… If you get a chance “like” my page!  Until they start streaming again (which I don’t foresee happening any time soon) there is no need to promote my radio show…  I’ll let you know when/if it comes back online.

Other places you can find me online: On The PodKlout, Instagr.am, Facebook (my personal page), Twitter and Four Square.

Taking a Break

Monday, December 21st, 2009

The kids and I are taking a mid-day relaxation break, we went for a walk by the mini cooper and smart car dealerships… Bing loved it, Lucy was only slightly interested, but I figure that makes up for all the visits we’ve made to the aquarium that Bing could have cared less about.

Yesterday we had a few holiday adventures.  We started at Angela Channels house where the kids decorated her tree (OK, Lucy did… Bing played outside), then it was off to the Christmas tree lot at Pierce College, where the kids met Santa (Well, again only Lucy, Bing did not want too and I refuse to force him), rode ponies, a little train and a merry-go-round.  After dinner we loaded up in a couple cars and did the woodland hills Christmas light tour (Just north of the 101 freeway at the Winnetka exit)…  Bing enjoyed yelling “Merry Christmas!” at people as we drove by… It really a fun thing to do, either driving or walking it. And we ended by watching the Charlie Brown Christmas dvd… It was a good day.

Bing actually went wee-wee on the potty last night…. It was a celebration on the level if we had just won the lottery!  He’s getting closer to no more “polka dot diapies!”

It’s weird to have no podcast or CRN show to do today…  We are really excited to make some improvements to the podcast in 20-10!!!  Can you believe we’re going on our 3rd year (in March) and have almost 700 shows in the archives?  Time flies when you’re playing radio.

It’s a tough time for Tiger…  Nothing like a party on your yacht to make you forget screwing over your family!  Enjoy the shortest day of the year…  Each one gets a little longer after tonight!  R.I.P. white rhino.   We had Rob on the pod.  Look who brought a gun to a snowball fight.  Interview with Santa.   You don’t want this guy to love you.  Maybe that’s how her brain got sucked out?  I sadi “This screwdriver really went to my head”, not “I want one in my head!

It’s Officially The Holidays For Me

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Lucy had her holiday show at school today!  She did a great job, that kid is a natural performer.  Bing was excited to see his sister on stage… But that wore off and then he just wanted to play with my camera.  My Mom was there to see Lucy rock and see her school for the first time.  It was packed… no one misses their kid on stage belting out holiday classics.

Can you believe there are only 9 days until Christmas… Time flies when you’re having a crappy year! I guess it’s time to start thinking about 20-10… Hopefully it’s better for us all, although I hoped for that for ’09 too and that didn’t really pan out.

Rest in Peace Roy, he was one of my customers when I worked at the photo shop, he was always very kind and friendly, just a normal guy… A normal guy who happened to be a Disney.

That’s one overdue book!  More fun in Mexico.  This is disgusting.   Do not hide your gun in the Christmas tree. Surfs up.  Bad, Bad Santa!  Speaking of Santa. Good News, Stretch has something to do in April! This is cool!  Wow, 8 months.   It was a win-win for him.

From Myspace to Dadjack…

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

I glanced over my right shoulder, Lucy’s hair was blowing in the wind, I forgot a hair tie today (No matter how long I’ve been doing this single Dad thing, hair ties always escape my memory as we run out the door), and her hand was out the window sailing with the flow of the air.  Bing was fast asleep, as I could see in the rear-view mirror, just 10 minutes earlier he was excitedly asking “Daddy window down?”, but he had since rolled it back up and drifted to sleep.  We were listening to the new Third Eye Blind album (I know I’m old, no one calls them albums anymore), so Lucy wasn’t really paying attention (if it’s not Taylor Swift or Black Eyed Peas she’s not interested), but she was really enjoying herself, just letting her hand sail in the wind created from our travels on the 5.  In her other hand was her Littlest Pet Shop lunch box… Which we all had some sense of satisfaction in finding, it took us two days and four Targets, but we finally found one that had it in stock (Burbank Target rules).  I wanted her to have something special for when she starts Kindergarten in a few weeks… To be honest, I don’t even know if she will be bringing a lunch, but we both kind of decided she needed a new lunch box (mainly for me because I didn’t know what other supplies she may need, and I remember I first lunch box… it was steel and housed a plastic Thermos and was decorated with the band Kiss – I didn’t like Kiss, my Mom got it on sale and so it was mine.  I wanted Lucy to have the exact one she wanted, thus 4 Targets we visited.)  The sun was hot by mid-afternoon so driving with the windows down felt good.  It was hard to not just stare at her, so young and happy just letting her hand fly (But someone had to drive!) And to be totally honest I think if I could have I just would have kept driving… We were all so happy, Bing peacefully resting, Lucy hair flowing, gazing out the window and me, my kids in tow without stress or worry at that moment.  It’s amazing how just catching your kids at the right time, they not even knowing you see them, can warm your heart.  We arrived at swim class, Bing awoke, the windows went back up, but that 30 minute drive was stuck in my head all day.

Tomorrow, we go on an adventure to San Diego… which just to start involves the subway and the train, and maybe later in the weekend, swimming with sharks.  So I’m sure that next week I’ll have much more to post.  The blog has been moved here from myspace so we can have more control and less problems… So hopefully that will be the way it works.  I know it will take me a feww posts to get used to it, but I really think in the long run it will be much better.  Have a great weekend… And if you get a chance, roll the windows down!

P.S. Podcast, Crn Show and regular blog posts will return Thursday.
